|1872 the Koeth-Weber Wine Estate was
founded by Johannes Koeth - the Great-Great-Grandfather
of the todays' owner Klaus Weber.
At that time, Johannes Koeth was the estate manager of the well-known Deinhard Wine Estate in Deidesheim.
|With the marriage of Luise Sorg - the Great-Great-Grandmother of Klaus Weber - he was in a financial position to realize the dream of his own wine estate in Gönnheim.|
our family and our longstanding employees we are
cultivating - now within the 5th Generation - 12 hectares of
vineyards along the Mittelhaardt wine region.
Climate, microclimate, soil (site)and grape variety are prerequisites which determine the style and type of wine.
The sandy soils of our Ellerstadt vineyards which are easily warmed up by the sun, generate first class red wines. The loam and loess soils of our Gönnheim and Friedelsheim vineyards offer best conditions for elegant and flavourful white wines.
mediteranean climate here at the Mittelhaardt enable us
to cultivate not only grapes but also almonds, sweet
chestnuts, figs, lemonfruits and kiwis.
Although, the growing of grape vines - dating back to the Romans dominates the Palatinate landscape. A visit to the Roman excavation sites of our region could be a nice journey back to Roman culture.
